Organised Training Rides

As part of the club we organise regular training rides, in the future we will look to start these rides from the shop in Stanway or possibly at two location and then meet up to form one group. In the interim please refer to the details below.

Please note that at present there are only organised rides at the weekends but later in the year we are planning to arrange MTB rides as well.

Additional details can be found within the private section of the forum.

Everybody is welcome and we hope to see you out soon

Weekend Rides:

Saturday rides (With effect from Sat 27th Oct) will be a fast group for a distance of 40 miles and an average speed of around 18 mph. Following feedback from the members we are reinstating our old Saturday loop and meet location. The loop will go through Tendring with a cafe stop at Mistley (weather permitting) before returning to Colchester.

Below is a map of the meeting point. Meeting time is 9am with a 9.05am leave time as it's too cold to hang around

Sunday Rides

Meeting at the Thomas's store in Stanway. Rides will start at 9am, we will wait until 9.10am before setting off (weather permitting...if it's cold we won't be waiting long so try not to be late)

Click on the image below for the map to Thomas's Colchester Store.

All rides / groups are based on the pace of the slowest rider, be warned though the Experienced group is a tough pace and those wishing to move from the Novice group should consult with the ride leader first.

Sunday rides will be broken down into 2 groups:-

Leisure / Novice : An experienced club cyclist will lead the group around a 23.5mile circuit as shown below, basis ride preparation is required as listed in our about section.

Experienced The experience group will meet at the shop at 9am and will use a route in the region of 40 - 50 miles. From October to December these rides are relatively sedate as many racers are resting from a busy season. Once we move into January the pace increases at the riders prepare themselves for the early season races. Rest assured these rides aren't for the faint hearted.

Preparation

Please refer to the ride guidance notes that hopefully set out a level of expectation in terms of behaviour and decorum. We want everybody to be able to enjoy the group rides and it's important that the more capable riders consider the not so capable and the effect their actions will have. That doesn't mean to say we don't / can't have the occasional sprint, but lets make sure we wait for the others, and remember just because they've got back to the group it doesn't mean they've recovered !!
