News Summary

  • 23/04/2011: VCR put on the first of Criteriums it is holding this year in Woodbridge. Here is the full write up of the races.

  • 22/04/2011: The clubs star sprinter Andrew Elderfield took part in the Good Friday Track meet up at the Manchester Velodrome alongside some world class riders including team Sky's Geriant Thomas.

    Golden Wheel Grand Prix - Andrew sailed through his qualifer riding a great race by keeping out of trouble near the front and finishing 6th in the sprint. The standard of riders in the final was exceptional with a GBP1,000 first prize attracting some world class riders. Andrew held his own well, forcing the pace at the front for a few laps, hanging onto the leaders until about the halfway point. The pace was incredible, especially considering the heat, with the winner Adam Duggleby completing the 80 laps averaging just over 30mph!

    Super Elimination - Andrew was a bit short changed here after getting himself a decent start position they got sent back to the centre which put him at the back and he unfortunately got eliminated early on.
  • 17/04/2011: VCR staged its annual road race the Ken Wright Memorial. A large pack enjoyed a great race and a couple of VCR riders Andrew Elderfield and Ben Wright performed well. Here's a breakdown of the results and some great race photos.
  • 17/04/2011: Wyatt Wendels completed the Brian Robinson challenge, a 75 mile sportive in Yorkshire with some grueling climbs, including the iconic Holme Moss.
  • 10/04/2011: Oliver Edwards came in 5th at in the youth category of the Mud Sweat Gears 1st series race with WIll Kearse coming in just behind in 6th. In the seniors Paul Thomas claimed 6th and Bob Bardell finished 30th in the Vets.
  • 03/04/2011: Several VCR rider headed south to take part in the Essex Road Spring Lamb Sportive, covering a 150km loop of SOuth Essex. Here's a full write up of the day.
  • 02/04/2011: Andrew Elderfield had a great weekend down at the Herne Hill track meet. A win in the points race and the devil were amon the highlights of the meet for Andrew. Here's how he got on in the other events.
