Essex Roads Sportive - 2011
2nd April 2011
Luke, Mark, James, Paul Thomas, Richard, Clive and myself (Dave) all gathered at Billericay for the 150km Sportive.
The weather was perfect for the day and we all started together with a 15 strong group from Stowmarket, heading west out from Billericay. We zig zagged the M25 and were tested by some short sharp climbs. James was the unlucky one who punctured on one of the descents. As the pace gathered momentum up the climbs I slipped back but stilled staying within site of the rest.
We all met again at the first feed stop after 32 miles. Suitably refreshed we started on the second leg along with 14 Glendene guys, who drove us along at a fair pace and even I managed to keep up for the next 20 miles, however being the type not to slacken they did eventually break me but, they took a wrong turn and I got to the last feed station before them.
We started off again as a group with the Glendene boys and managed to hang on in there until some sinister person routed us up North Hill at Baddow. Not to be outdone I did manage to keep Luke in sight, albeit from 200yds away, but was able to get up without to much fuss. Once up the rolling countryside clocked up the miles and we all got back to the HQ safe and sound.
Here's my stats for the day.
