VCR were represented at the track meet by our very own sprint king Andrew Elerfield.

Race one: Points race: A 10 lap race with points every two laps. On the third sprint Andrew picked up 3 points and then attacked straight afterwards, and quickly gained half a lap on the bunch. With a nice lead Andrew then collect the 4th & 5th sprints, five points each which gave him a convincing win.

Race two: 450M T One lap standing start of the 450m outdoor track. Both A, elite,1st cats & B 2nd,3rd cat level riders took part. Andrew finished 5th overall with a time of 35 seconds, only 2 seconds behind a national sprinter who did it in 33 seconds. This gave Andrew another great result with 2nd place in the category B class.

Race three: Devil (elimination race) This race, two riders each lap are eliminated. Keeping near the front and out of trouble Andrew reached the last the last four and with another almighty effort took the sprint to win the race.

Race four & five: Kerien motor bike. Three laps behind a motorbike before a last lap sprint. Another strong performance saw Andrew make it through to the semi final where he narrowly missed out on a final place.

Final race: 8km Scratch race A brisk pace kept the bunch together then with 2 laps to Andrew attacked. After getting caught it ended in a bunch sprint.

Congratulations to Andrew on a great set of results. He's worked hard over the winter to get his training right and despite a couple of bouts of flu and about four thousand punctures all his hard work is paying off!

He even had the composure to do an interview inbetween races!
