EADT
Cyclo-cross 20th Jan 2008,
Furze Hill, Mistley
Sunday 20th
January saw round 13 of the EADT Cyclocross league. The
event was held at Furze Hill, it was a sad day for all
the riders with all 67 Riders showing their respect for
a well respected member of the Cyclocross league, Ron
Hunt who had recently passed away and a minutes silence
was observed by all who entered and by the spectators.
The race was promoted by
Colchester Rovers and big changes had been made to an
already tough course.
Two VCR Riders made the journey
to Mistley, Roger Holmes and Joe Skipper. Also in
attendance was second claim member Terry Smith . In all
67 riders entered the main event.

The race was hard from the
whistle, various riders went over in the slippery
conditions, the climbs and technical difficulty that the
course had been renowned for were ever present, with the
slippery conditions making parts of the course un-rideable.
The course had also been
increased in length by 400m this year and it was all
climbing, and due to the conditions it soon carved
up exposing hidden tree roots that made for challenging
riding.
The eventual winner was Nathan
Miller, who has dominated the EADT League this year
Terry Smith was the 1st VCR 2nd claim rider home in 26th
place, Roger Holmes was home next in 49th and Joe
Skipper came home in 50th.
