Steve Enright rides his first ever bike Race

I had never done a bike race before of any kind and had only ridden on the Saturday morning runs with VC Revolution since joining in Jan 08.
 
So up comes a chance to race at Dunton on the Ford test track as a Cat 4 at 50 years of age, how could I say no?

Easy to enter, sign on in the tent. Easy to find, easy parking and you can use the Ford toilets! No one thinks you shouldn't be there and everyone is friendly and answers your dumb questions.

Start on the front row, they'll all come past you pretty fast but ride straight and its ok. Find a wheel going at your pace and hang on until your breathing settles and you find a cadence that suits you.

If the bunch comes past don't panic, keep riding straight and they'll slip past close but safe. Or you can try to tag on again if you are up to it.

Don't give up and enjoy the finish...and the Guys at VC Revolution WILL look after you.
