Club
Launch
Sunday the 30th
September brought about the eagerly awaited official
club launch.
The launch event
was a combined affair held at the Thomas's store in
Colchester. Paul Thomas had arranged for suppliers from
Trek, Giant, Specialized and Look to be on hand with
their latest machines for the 2008 season and it has to
be said they brought some lovely machines.
We had managed to
plan the launch of the club so that the clothing was in
good supply and those members that had already joined
would be on hand in their kit to facilitate a club
photo.
Local MP Bob
Russell who is also involved in both Roadpeace and Cycle
Speedway attended the event and gave a few words to all
those concerned.
Our sponsors,
Glenn Tookey (inTechnology) and Richard Harris (Centric)
also attended and took delivery of their team clothing
which will be framed and put on display in their
respective offices, Glenn enjoys cycling himself and
will be wearing a VCR jersey when out on the roads.
We had a
fantastic turn out from the members of the club and also
managed to sign up a number of new members on the day,
as a result Alan Lawrence had to spend the rest of
Sunday evening processing the applications!

A massive thanks
goes out to the Thomas family (especially Paul) who have
been behind the launch of the club both emotionally and
financially, and without whom the launch would not have
been as successful as it was.
A local cyclist
Adam kindly volunteered to be on hand with his camera,
Adam is a budding amateur photographer and likes nothing
more than taking photo's of nice new carbon fibre, so we
invited him to the launch to get some photo's of the new
bikes and to take some of the club and it's sponsors.
Thanks Adam for giving up your afternoon for the sake of
VCR and it's members.
